Local Area

Goodwick and Fishguard are steeped in history. A neolithic burial chamber is in the field behind the house and the first flight to Ireland took off just 100 yards away in 1912.

The last invasion of mainland Britain in 1797 happened on the coast nearby and is commemorated in Fishguard with a beautiful tapestry.

Penrhiw Farm is conveniently located on the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Ideal for walkers, beach-goers and anyone looking to explore Pembrokeshire during their stay

Meet your host

I am your host, Alan, Pembrokeshire born and bred. After many years working as a chef in hotels and restaurants, I returned to help run Penrhiw, the family farm, where I was born and raised.

My parents bought Penrhiw Farm in the 70s and turned organic in the 90s. Using milk from our organic herd of predominately jersey cows,  we now sell their dairy to an organic collective, Calon Wen.

After a long restoration, the farmhouse has been transformed into a modern, stylish Bed & Breakfast which opened in March 2022. My sister, partner Philip and I live in the other part of the house with our two adorable whippets.

I’m a keen cyclist, swimmer, runner, and horse rider. Growing up on the Pembrokeshire coast, I know a lot about the local area and am more than happy to recommend the best walks and places to visit during your stay.

Food & drink at Penrhiw Farm

Our delicious cooked breakfast is just what you need to prepare for a day spent exploring the Pembrokeshire coast.

Breakfast is a social affair, enjoyed around a family dining table where you can enjoy great conversation and exchange holiday tips with fellow guests. (Lifelong friendships have been made here!) If you prefer a more intimate setting, we’ve got a second dining room where you can choose to be more private.

Our food is prepared by owner and ex-chef, Alan, vegetarian and vegan options are available and the ingredients are as local and organic as possible. Breakfast is served with freshly ground coffee and a selection of teas.

The hotel is licensed and our small bar is stocked with interesting wines and local Welsh beers. If you’re feeling peckish in the evenings, a delicious dinner is available on request, just let us know when you arrive.

We can also recommend some great local pubs and restaurants nearby if you want to get out and explore the local area.

Sustainability at Penrhiw Farm

Sustainability was an important consideration in the restoration of Penrhiw Farm.

Heating is supplied by an air source heat pump, the walls, floors and ceilings have been insulated, solar panels and a wind turbine contribute to the power requirements.

Carefully chosen antique and vintage furniture and natural materials and fibres make Penrhiw feel homely and welcoming.

Each room has its own unique charm, with exposed bulb lighting and reclaimed wood walls in the bathrooms repurposed from the farm’s original floorboards.

The carpets are 100% wool.  Furniture has been rescued and repurposed from The Dorchester Hotel and the colourful blankets on the bed are from a mill just down the road.

Organic tea and coffee is provided in the bedrooms and with breakfast. Being an organic dairy farm the milk on offer is organic and as fresh as it comes.

What our customers say

We’re proud that Penrhiw Farm B&B has been rated as ‘exceptional’ on Booking.com, as a guest favourite and superhost on Airbnb and even to have been mentioned in The Times!

Whilst press coverage is rather lovely for the ego, it’s what our customers say which really matters most, with reviews like this, what more could we ask for?

It’s the epitome of a quality bed and breakfast.
